I have personally used MS Word for most of my educational life. I started using the software when i started middle school in 6th grade. We had classes to explain to the students everything about the software to prepare use for when we needed it in high school, but if we had any questions, our teacher wasn't well equipped to properly answer them. As my classmates and I reached high school, we had to rely on our teachers to give us specific instruction on what they were looking for and specific key terms that prepared me for college. Currently being a college student and using MS Word, I do prefer using that over any other software. I have only ever used MS Word and think i would be confused with where everything is if i changed to another software.
When choosing a ISTE Standard for Educators, the standard that stands out to me the most is learner. As a learner, i am able to mainly learn from other when it comes to being educated on a new topic. I have learned that shifts in teaching and learning afforded by technology has the ability to show personalization, tools that are able to highlight uniqueness, being able to hear from other pears on how to grow academically and different analysis tools to excel.
The definition of digital native is anyone born in the 20th century that has grown up around or using technology at a young age. i have seen a huge difference in how i use technology in comparison to how my teachers or parents use it. Since i have grown up depending on technology for my learning, it is easy to help my teachers figure out any technical issues when they get stuck in class. if a teacher isn't well versed in technology, it does tend to slow down my classmates and I as we have to help guide out instructor through there course. This issue happened frequently in high school as the staff was not educated properly before the new school year on the new software that they would have to be using. I think the difference between now and the future when it comes to technology is that both students and teachers will be fully dependent on technology. Now we have a mix of writing and typing or the occasional turn in of a physical printed assignment, where as in the future, we only will submit assignments or work online.
